How Does the Beame Tracker Work?

The Beame unit

• Wireless: no connection to the car’s wiring, so it can be hidden almost anywhere and does not affect the manufacturer warranty.
• Battery: lasts up to three years and does not draw power from the car battery. You get a low-battery alert, and the unit is replaced free under Beame’s lifetime warranty.
• Jamming detection: the unit flags jamming attempts to the Beame operations centre.
• Works in: cars, bakkies, motorbikes, trailers and caravans.

Step by step: what happens when your car is stolen

1. You realise the car is gone (or you are hijacked). Get to safety first.
2. Call Beame on 0800 111 322 and the police on 10111. Report as soon as possible, ideally within the first hour.
3. The operations centre activates recovery and dispatches agents, often working with SAPS.
4. Agents track the unit’s signal to the vehicle’s location. Beame says it recovers 9 out of 10 vehicles reported (Beame’s own figure).
5. You get your case number for your insurer.

Why wireless recovery works

Thieves often look for trackers wired behind the dashboard or near the fuse box. A small wireless unit with no cables can be hidden in many more places, which makes it harder to find and remove. The trade-off is that Beame is built for recovery, not everyday tracking: you will not see your car move live, set up geofences or get trip reports.
