How geofencing works

The tracker in your vehicle regularly reports its GPS position. The tracking platform compares that position with the zones you have drawn. If the vehicle moves into or out of a zone, the system triggers an alert by app notification, SMS or email, often within seconds.

Everyday uses

• Security: get an alert if your car leaves home at night.
• Family: know when a teenager arrives at school or campus.
• Business: see when a vehicle arrives at a customer, leaves a depot or goes outside its work area.
• Rentals: be alerted if a vehicle crosses a border.

Geofencing and theft

Geofencing will not stop a theft by itself, but an early “vehicle left home” alert at 2am gives you and the control room valuable minutes. Combine it with tamper alerts and jamming detection for the best early warning.

Which trackers include geofencing?

Geofencing is usually included on mid-range and premium plans, such as Cartrack Quick Plus, Netstar Plus and Tracker Skytrax. Entry-level recovery-only plans usually do not include it. See the plans below or all car tracker features.
