Nedbank Car Insurance: Cover, Benefits and Add-Ons

Nedbank sells car insurance underwritten by its own insurer, Nedgroup Insurance Company. You can apply online or ask for a call-back from its sales team.

Alongside the main policy, Nedbank has a range of MyCover add-ons, such as dent and scratch, tyre and rim, total loss and credit shortfall cover, which you can take separately.

What stands out

  • Comprehensive cover, or third party only if you just need liability cover.
  • Nedbank advertises up to a 20% premium discount and 10% cashback after three claim-free years (check what qualifies).
  • Optional car hire (up to 60 days) and credit shortfall cover.
  • Roadside assistance, plus drive-me-home and pick-me-up services.

What to check before you accept a quote

  • What conditions apply to the advertised discount, since not everyone will qualify for the full 20%.
  • Exclusions Nedbank lists, such as mechanical or electrical breakdown and tyre damage from road hazards (these need separate add-ons).
  • Whether MyCover add-ons duplicate cover you already have.
  • The basic excess and any additional excesses, for example for young or newly licensed drivers. See what excess means in car insurance.
  • Whether your car needs an approved tracker. Many insurers require one above a certain vehicle value. See insurance-approved trackers.

How to get a Nedbank car insurance quote

  1. Apply online or request a call-back from Nedbank Insurance.
  2. Ask for the premium with and without car hire and credit shortfall.
  3. Compare against at least two other insurers for the same car.

Comparing is easier when every quote is for the same thing: the same cover type, the same car value (retail or market value) and similar excess. Our guide to comparing car insurance quotes has a checklist.

A tracker can lower your premium

Many insurers require an approved tracker on higher-value cars, and most give a discount when one is fitted. See which trackers insurers accept or estimate your saving.
