Comprehensive Car Insurance

Our widest cover: your own car is covered for accidents, theft, hijacking, fire and weather, and you're covered for damage you cause to other people's property.

What's covered

  • Accident damage to your car, whether or not you caused it
  • Theft and hijacking, including recovery costs
  • Fire, hail, storm and flood damage
  • Malicious damage and vandalism (riot damage through SASRIA)
  • Damage you cause to other people's cars and property (third-party liability)
  • 24/7 roadside assistance and towing

What's not covered

  • Mechanical and electrical breakdown (see Car Warranty)
  • Wear and tear
  • Driving over the legal alcohol limit or without a valid licence
  • Business use, e-hailing or racing unless declared and accepted

A summary only. The insurer's policy wording, sent with your quote, sets out the full cover, limits and excesses.

Who it's for

Financed cars (finance houses require it), newer cars and cars you couldn't afford to replace. Read our full guide.

How getting a quote works

  1. Leave your details below. It takes 30 seconds, and no card or bank details are needed.
  2. Get a call. A licensed adviser contacts you, asks a few questions about you and your car, and gives you the premium and excess.
  3. Decide. There's no obligation. If you're happy, you accept the quote and set up the debit order with the insurer.
  4. You're covered from the start date on the policy schedule the insurer sends you.

Important: requesting a quote isn't proof of cover. You're only insured once the insurer confirms your cover in writing. Keep any existing insurance until then.

The minimum sensible cover. It pays for damage you cause to other people's cars and property, so you aren't personally liable for their repair bill. Your own car isn't covered.

Comprehensive questions

Is comprehensive cover required on a financed car?+

Yes. Banks and finance houses require comprehensive cover for as long as the car is being paid off. Tick "financed" on the form so the quote meets your finance agreement.

When does my cover start?+

Only if you accept your quote and our licensed partner insurer confirms your cover in writing, with your first premium or debit order set up. Requesting a quote is not proof of cover. Keep any existing insurance until then.

Can I choose my excess?+

Yes. Tell us your preferred excess level and the insurer will show you how it changes the premium. See what excess means in car insurance for how excesses work.

Is it safe to request a quote online?+

Yes. We only ask for what the insurer needs to quote you. We never ask for card or bank details on this site. If you decide to take the cover, the debit order is set up directly with the insurer.
