Cartrack sells GPS vehicle tracking and stolen-vehicle recovery for private drivers, and fleet management software for businesses. It is known for its app, driver-behaviour reports, CarWatch movement alerts and a range of dashcams. The unit reports the vehicle’s position over GPS and the cellular network to Cartrack’s 24/7 control room.
Cartrack was founded by Zak Calisto in 2001. Its holding company was renamed Karooooo in 2021 and is listed on Nasdaq, with a JSE listing. Calisto is the founder and CEO. Cartrack is not the same company as Tracker; they are competitors.
