Tracker and Cartrack include installation on their 36-month contracts. Wireless units such as Matrix Beame are hidden in minutes, and Netstar STARtag needs no installation at all.

A car tracker costs from R89 a month (Netstar STARtag) or R99 a month (Matrix Beame, Tracker Retrieve+, Cartrack Quick). Live tracking is about R149 to R219 a month and premium packages about R199 to R299. Over a 36-month contract the cheapest options cost roughly R3,200 to R3,600 in total.
On most 36-month contracts installation is free or included. Where it is charged separately, a standard hardwired installation generally costs about R1,899 to R3,299 once-off. Wireless units such as Matrix Beame and Netstar STARtag need little or no installation.
Some providers offer once-off or month-to-month options, for example Titan Secure. DIY plug-in trackers cost about R750 to R2,500 upfront, but they are easy to remove and most insurers do not accept them as an approved tracker.
