We multiply each plan's VAT-inclusive monthly price by the months you'll keep it, then add installation. Plans that include free fitting or need no fitting add R0. For the rest we use the installation figure you choose above, since providers quote it per vehicle.
Early-cancellation fees, optional add-ons such as dash cams, and once-off activation fees vary by provider and aren't in the total. Our hidden costs guide covers them in detail.
Basic recovery plans start at about R89 to R99 a month, mid-range live-tracking plans run about R149 to R219, and premium plans with driver analytics cost about R249 to R299. All prices include VAT.
Some providers, including Tracker and Cartrack, include installation when you sign a 36-month contract. Wireless units such as Netstar STARtag and Matrix Beame need no installation. Other hardwired units are quoted per vehicle, typically R1,899 to R3,299.
